Hello all,

It’s been a whirlwind of a start of the preseason, with the fires, smoke storm, cancellations and rescheduling. And, we all persevered. Picture day was a huge success – all players and coaches from all three levels were present! Thanks to all the parents who volunteered for our first preseason home games! We appreciate each and every one of you! And, congrats to the Frosh Soph team on their first Win against James Logan!

When you get a chance, please thank our coaches. Shake their hands, give ‘em a hug, or a nudge or fist bump. They are coaching for our daughters, the love of the game, and the Purple & Gold. And, they put in countless hours for very little “pay”.

Please read on for very important updates and To Do items, and contact your Team Parents or myself with any questions.

Good luck to JV at the Granada tournament tonight and tomorrow!

Have a nice weekend! Go Dons!

Kim

Athletic Registrations & Funding:
Girls Basketball is SELF-FUNDED and costs between $20,000-25,000 per year. Approximately 50% is covered by the Athletic Registrations and goes to AVHS for coaches stipends. The other 50% is covered by Fundraising, Sponsorships, Donations and Corporate Matching and goes through the Girls Basketball Boosters account for all team expenses (uniforms, equipment, tournaments, conditioning, awards, & operating expenses).

If you haven’t already, please submit your daughters’ athletic registration of $450 per athlete ASAP. You can pay via check to “AVHS” at the Activities Desk or online at:
https://amador.futurefund.com/store/campaigns/7207
Make sure you click the Amount box in order for the Payment/Donate button to light up. You can use your existing future fund login you used to register your child at back to school time OR create a new login. If you need to arrange a payment plan, please enter the amount you can pay now, and pay the rest later in the season, or contact the Activities Desk Secretary to pay in installments by CC or check. Any shortfall in athletic registrations will be charged to the Girls Basketball Boosters account and we will have to make up for it in fundraising.

Volunteer Updates:
Varsity and JV, please please check Signup Genius at:
https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0448aca82aa6f49-home
Please fill in open spots for all remaining games. For home games, we are asking each family to sign up for at least 3 spots. For away games, thank you to our Carpool Coordinators and to everyone who is cleared to drive!

Frosh Soph, please contact your Team Parent Wendy Costanzo and stay tuned for your Signup Genius link for the rest of the preseason and regular season/league games.
Also, Frosh Soph is looking for a main clock operator on 12/10, 12/11 and TBA v. SRV! Please contact Wendy Costanzo: wlwc14@gmail.com

It takes the whole village to pitch in and run our program!
Thank you!

Uniforms:
All uniforms, practice jerseys, backpacks and bags, are inventoried and will be collected at the end of the season. The cost for each set is up to $250 each. If items are not turned in at the end of the season, there will be a charge. Head Coach Dan Sweeney has provided an AV drawstring bags for all players. These are good for storing the uniforms in the backpacks, separate from shoes or other items. Thank you for helping to take good care of the program’s gear!

Pictures and Winter Sports Programs:
Pictures were taken by Yary Photography and Jenn Gaub Sports Program Photography. Yary pictures will be delivered to the Team Parents and will be handed out at practice as soon as they come in. Sports Programs will be available for sale for $15/each. The Winter programs usually come out in January. Stay tuned and thanks for your patience on these!

Ad Sales (Due Friday Dec. 14):
Ad Sales Packets were passed out to all players at picture night. The Ad Sales program is offered by the AV Athletic Boosters Club each year. This is an opportunity for the athletes and families to reach out to their favorite local businesses (restaurants, salons, real estate, insurance agents and small and larger business) for sponsorships. In return, their ads will appear in the next three seasons’ AVHS Boosters Sports Programs (Winter, Spring & Fall). Full page ad sponsors are announced at all home games.
The girls all received an intro letter and packet to help them “pitch” ad sales to their favorite sponsors. We’ve asked the girls to sell one ad each.
Please help them in coordinating either as individuals or as groups to go out and sell ads. Girls Basketball gets a % of each ad sold, the more ads we sell, the more the program earns!
The best way for us to keep track of our Ad Sales for Girls Basketball is to hand deliver all ad contracts back to the Ad Sales Coordinator. That way, everything stays together. Please deliver to your Team Parent or to Kim Guidice by Friday Dec. 14. Any questions, please contact Kim Guidice kguidice@gmail.com 925-699-0434.

WANTED: Parent or Co-Parents to lead this fundraiser! This year, Girls Basketball will have it’s first ever Shoot-A-Thon! This will be combined with our TeamRaise online donation campaign.
Our JV Head Coach Rich Martin is a pro at this one and will be helping us pull the event together. This is a great opportunity for the girls to practice their skills at free throw shooting and earn BIG BUCKS for Girls Basketball!
