Saturday March 30th, Amador Valley 13 @ Menlo School 10
The Amador Valley Dons women’s lacrosse traveled to Menlo High School to take on the Menlo Knights in a Saturday afternoon tilt. The sun was out and so were the Dons. It was a nip and tuck affair throughout before the Dons finally created breathing room with under 1 minute to play. The Dons outlasted the Knights by the score of 13-10. In the end, it was the excellent play by Dons goalie Alex Lovelock that provided the difference.
Lovelock, just a sophomore, just called up and making her first varsity start, was instrumental in keeping the Knights at bay for long stretches in the second half. Poised and confident but I am sure a little nervous to start, Lovelock settled in and saved multiple Knight chances in the second half. Lovelock’s play provided the Dons ample opportunities to score and Junior, Bella Mayo didn’t disappoint. Attacking the net with confidence, Mayo led the Dons attack with 5 goals.
Lily Manos added 4 goals and Catherine Murphy and Isa Clark netted a pair of goals each and the Dons had the offense necessary to edge the Knights.
