In a hottish home opener Friday night, the Amador Valley JV Girls Lacrosse hosted the San Ramon Valley Wolves in the most challenging match of the young season.

Both teams came out on fire hot with goals exchanged in the first few minutes. After that, the Dons seemed caught off guard by the Wolves’ aggressive play that (along with some untimely calls) resulted in a 9 to 3 deficit at the half.

The late afternoon cool down and halftime coaching must have stirred the short-staffed squad because they rebounded in true Amador fashion and played “better than equals” with 2H scoring tied 3 to 3. For that reason, fans in the stands noted that the game played much closer than the 12-6 score admits … and the valiant second half comeback effort earns the team a huge moral victory over adversity. More such character, and probably more hard checking, is expected for Monday’s game at home versus a talented Sacred Heart Preparatory team. Good seats still available!
