We had several near misses yesterday, at the Scott Bauhs Invitational, when it came to joining the all-time lists. Jack Gray’s time was 1 second off the mark. Derica Su and Becky Laurence were just a few seconds off as well. And both the boys’ varsity team missed the team time list by 2 seconds and the girls’ team missed by 23 seconds. We did have one impressive addition the list though as Aidan Boyle, in his first cross country season, ran the #5 time that an Amador Valley athlete has ever run on the Shadow Cliffs Cross Country course. Aidan crossed the finish line in 15:36. He is getting stronger and stronger as the season goes on and his teammates are following along, notching their best performance yet yesterday. No longer qualifying for the top 10 list is Kevin Huey, who ran 15:49 in 2012. Kevin ran 4:30 and under 10:00 for us and went on to compete at Whittier College where he was a key member on a team that qualified for nationals in cross country.

In addition to Amador Valley history, Aidan ran the 22nd fastest time that anyone has ever run at the Scott Bauhs Invitational, the #9 time run by a junior, the #28 time that a junior has run at Shadow Cliffs and the 72nd best time that anyone has ever run at Shadow Cliffs from any school.
Also qualifying for either the Scott Bauhs lists or the overall lists from Amador Valley are Jack Gray (#8 sophomore at SBI, #39 overall at SBI, and #21 sophomore ever at Shadow Cliffs), Aidan McCarthy (#13 sophomore at SBI, #68 overall as SBI, and #36 sophomore at Shadow Cliffs), Euan Houston (# 26 freshman at SBI and #48 overall freshman on the course), Derica Su (#17 sophomore at SBI, #44 overall at SBI), Becky Laurence (#16 junior at SBI and #44 overall at SBI).
