Welcome to the Boys Volleyball Pre-Season Interest List

Hi! Welcome to the Boys Volleyball Pre-Season Interest List! Tonight was the AVHS Spring Sports Meeting.

Here are a few important dates/information to remember:

January 23 (Monday) @ 3:30pm in the AV Library – Boys Volleyball Baseline Concussion Testing – needs to be done every 2 years (typically Freshman and Junior years). See link above for more detailed information.

January 24th (Tuesday) – Turn in the 2023 Spring Sports Designated Contract at the Activities Window from 7:45am-3:45pm – The contract is the final page (Confirmation Message) of your registration. See link above for more detailed information.

February 6 (Monday) – Official start of the season – Tryouts (location tbd). You need to be cleared in order to tryout

February 8 (Wednesday) – Teams announced by the end of practice

February 9 (Thursday) – first practice after school. * Mandatory parent meeting at 5:30*. At this meeting, we would like to collect 2 separate checks for the Voluntary Fair Share donation and the AVHS Booster’s Donation so please bring your checkbook. As explained at the meeting, PUSD does not contribute any money for athletics – all sports programs are completely self-funded. The first check should be in the amount of $450 made out to AVHS for the Voluntary Fair Share donation. This money will go to AVHS to cover the fixed expenses to run our program such as coach stipends, referee costs, and league fees. These expenses are added up and then divided by the number of players on the team to determine the Voluntary Fair Share donation. The second check should be in the amount of $200 written out to AVHS Boosters (with Boys Volleyball in the memo line). This money will be used to cover the cost of tournaments, program/equipment needs, senior recognition, and a contribution toward the end-of-season banquet. At this meeting, we will also be looking for parent volunteers including: JV Team Manager, Transportation Coordinator, Senior Night Coordinator, Tournament Coordinator, Videographer/statistician, and Team Swag/Fan gear Coordinator.

Some other dates to note:

February 24/25 – The Varsity team will have an overnight tournament in Sanger, CA.
March 16 /17 – There is no school these days, but we have JV and Varsity games against Granada on March 16
April 1 – This is the start of spring break. The Varsity team will have a tournament on April 1.
