Why we fundraise

Posted by AV Football - Varsity 2021-2022 at Sep 7, 2017 9:55PM PDT

Since I’ve had a lot of questions this morning, I thought I’d pass along some additional information that might help you all. First some facts:
Football and athletics generally are self-funded at Amador. If your son plays another sport, be prepared for more fundraising!
*This means that we get nothing from the district and have to raise money to cover all of the costs. That includes, among other things: coach stipends (not a lot, trust me!), equipment (jerseys, helmets, cleaning of same, coach shirts and hats, etc.), and the athletic trainer’s salary (if you’ve met Diana she is a FABULOUS asset). Each varsity jersey costs $200. *Football costs almost $60K to run each year!

*While a lot of time is donated by everyone, the costs add up, particularly for making sure pads and helmets are safe and clean each year.
*Amador and Foothill are the only schools in EBAL without a full-time paid Athletic Director. Every other school in our league has funding for that.
*The fair share donation at the beginning of the year covers some of the administrative costs and transportation only (those buses are expensive).
*The school is not allowed to tell us who and who has not paid the fair share fee, and if not everyone pays then we end up with a shortfall we have to make up through fundraising.
*If the coaches pay for pizza or other treats at practice they are doing so OUT OF THEIR OWN POCKETS, they don’t get reimbursed for that.
With that in mind, the fundraising is absolutely essential to keeping the program going. I realize that everyone puts a lot of time and effort into football and it really is a herculean push to get us through the 10 weeks of games, but we really need your help with this too. We will NOT be doing the coupon cards next year and will instead focus solely on the raffle, which nets us a LOT more money.
If you have questions about any of this, please don’t hesitate to ask.
PLEASE sell a couple more raffle tickets this weekend!Truly, thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!!!

Raffle ticket sales have been luke warm. We stressed the importance of selling all 20 tickets. We gave them another week with the drawing being at halftime during the Sept 15th Pigskin game. The boys who don’t sell all 20 tickets will be asked to do ANOTHER fundraiser (or pay $200 cash for their varsity jerseys) and no one wants that! Please encourage your son to sell all tickets this weekend!
