*Amador Valley Dons vs. Davis Blue Devils*

Posted by AV Boys Lacrosse - Varsity on Mar 02 2018 at 09:45PM PST in 2017-2018

Game number two for Amador Valley Boys Lacrosse was an exciting way to begin the season. Amador put the sting on Davis with a 17-6 win!

Amador came out and set the tone for a game that was marked with AVHS maintaining complete control, lots of goals, full-team participation and even a little celebratory dancing.

The first half Amador took control with a strong offensive presence. Lucas Heverly (’19) did not disappoint at Face-Off. Heverly won all but two face-offs. With 23 face-offs the face-off team did a tremendous job by winning 14. With this success the offense was ready to roll and Connor Dubiel (’18 – Captain) made a statement by putting in three goals in the first quarter. He followed that up with 4 more in the second quarter. Dubiel was hot! The tone of the game was set but Dubiel did not act alone! Luke Ingram (’18 – Captain) was ready to go by giving an assist to Dubiel in the first quarter and following that up with a goal in the second quarter. Patrick Sydow (’18) was ready to prove himself with two goals in the second quarter and Cal Ewanich (’20) was always ready to make a play as usual. Ewanich can take credit for three assists to Dubiel in the 2nd quarter.

The second half was equally as exciting as Heverly was the first to make a goal coming off a winning face-off. Boom! Here we go! Staton Rosenblum (’18) and Tommy Goon (’19) put one in each. Ingram took a pass from Dubiel, sent it over the top and into the goal. You’d think Amador would be tired but no! The fourth quarter had Sean O’Brien (’18) and Peyton Wisch (’18) each make a goal. Ewanich was still hot on the field with a back pass to Dubiel who plunked one more in. Talk about a team effort! 13 out of 19 offensive players took shots on goal to win this high scoring game.

Davis fought back with many shots on goal but the Amador defense was solid and goalie Tommy Hodges (’18 – Captain) made 6 saves. The defense finally stopped Davis on an end to end run. Brett Severance (’20) made an interception and did his own end to end run. The entire defense stood strong when AVHS was 2-man down and successfully held Davis. Defense wanted to get in on the scoring too. Severance can take credit for an assist to Wisch for the goal in the 4th quarter.

AVHS (1-1) takes their revitalized game on the road to Cal Friday night (March 2nd) in San Ramon.
